‘When the cold is fading, see the green is growing; when the ashes are fading, feel the spirit is growing… Fading and growing happen every moment, and change is one of the laws of nature. By observing the changes in colours and forms of all things in nature throughout the four seasons, I have gained a sense of life. By reflecting on the continuous cycle of fading and growing, I am liberated from the attachment. Through the natural colours, random lines and flowing traces, I am interpreting the colourfulness and the freedom of life…’ – Qin Yue

This exhibition is based on artist Qin Yue’s new series ‘Fading And Growing’. The colorfulness of this series leads us to an unexpected world full of balance. Each of the works reflects Yue’s ability to use the media, colours, and forms in her unique artistic style that achieves a harmonious balance. Layers and layers of elements staggered, which look like a microcosm of nature and the modern world. We can feel her keen observation and love for nature, and her deep thinking and exploration of the environment. Whether it is a ray of dawn in the sky or the traces of raindrops; whether it is the intertwining of man-made relationships or the setting of various boundaries; whether it is fading or growing, all of these ultimately meet with harmony and embrace with love in her poetic colours and abstract ink lines. These dreamlike spaces are inviting us to a free and transcendent world.

‘I travelled from city to city, from East to West, the geographical boundaries of home became blurred and the concept of home became bigger. ‘Home’ is peaceful, happy and a spiritual sense of belonging. This work is selected from my ‘The Other Shore’ series. Through the abstract lines of the natural landscape, I have interpreted that peace and happiness which are the feelings of home come from the inner harmony of each moment, the harmony between human and nature.’ -Qin Yue

Life is like sea, wave after wave, pushing me to the other shore, I follow the colourful light far away, listen to the hundred birds singing on the other shore, open my ancient dream in the deep soul, dance with the fairy cranes…Cross the sea to the other shore…This shore is ‘The Other Shore’… –Qin Yue

This exhibition is based on artist Qin Yue’s new work series ‘The Other Shore 彼岸’. In Buddhism, the other shore (彼岸 bi an) is the land of enlightenment and the ideal state of transcendence from life & death and freedom from earthly worries. In this series, Qin Yue continues to explore her signature creative style and creates a profound spiritual dialogue between multiple colours and mixed materials, water and ink, black and colours, straight and curves, rough and delicate…The extraordinary spiritual call of ‘Truth. Goodness. Beauty’ can be heard in her paintings, it is singing like music through every mark and flowing like poetry in every corner. Through her deep and distinctive contemporary abstract art language, she has been interpreting the oneness of the universe, and the ideal world of harmony between nature and human beings.

We grow in silence, we leave in silence…When the words are feeble, when the tears are pale…Only silence is golden, only love is true…-Qin Yue

This exhibition is based on artist Qin Yue’s ‘Meditation Series’ created during the lockdown. With her cultural characteristics and artistic practice, she naturally combines eastern ink and philosophy with western mix-media and language to build her signature creative style. Through meditation, awareness of the present naturally grows, she becomes closer to her true self and nature, and rises moment by moment to wisdom, love, and peace. Listen to the silence then the light rise up.
